The Lions 'Children of Courage' Awards

Sunday Charlotte was presented with a 'Courage Award' from the Lions Club. Special thanks goes to PMH who nominated Charlotte for her bravery during her ongoing treatment. She sat next to her friend Adelle, who returned yesterday from hermake-a-wish trip to queensland.

They both felt very special, but it wasn't completely smooth sailing for us! The program set out the sequence of awards, with Charlotte to get her award about 3/4 of the way through (the list was sadly very long - a very touching, sad, and humbling experience to see so many sick kids).

Each child had a bio read out as they received their award. Charlotte was following proceedings and building her excitement when the announcers went straight past her name. I checked with the organisers who apologised and reassured me her certificate was there.

Apparently Rachel had written a bio but when Charlotte received her award as the lucky last recipient they obviously didn't have it with them. This made no difference to Charlotte of course who was so happy to receive her medal and certificate. :)

I was so proud of her and wished the rest of the room could have heard a little about her sense of humour, her courage and her kind heart.

We had lunch at Siennas in Leederville to celebrate. She ate really well which I am sure was because of the positive effect these awards had on her spirits.

My heart goes out to all the kids that received an award..
