Update from Rachel

FYI- when I first created this blog I used a lot of Rachel's emails to build the story.. it was made a lot more sense than my facebook ramblings..  So, I thought I'd include her emails from now on..

Charlotte has had a better week this week. Steroids were reduced again on Friday, so she is now on a very small dose. We have noticed her cheeks are not as puffy now. The appetite hasn't decreased yet, so at least she isn't losing weight. Charlotte has been getting a bit more tired, as was predicted. The diabetes has calmed down a bit and we are now getting more normal readings with her insulin. Hopefully when the steroids stop so will the diabetes.

Charlotte was lucky enough to be part of her dance concert last night. Miss Tanya came up with the idea of her sitting in the sleigh prop while the other girls danced their ballet. They all had beautiful green tutus and looked like little professional ballerina. Charlotte loved sitting in the sleigh and being part of it all. She also got to watch most of the concert, which she hasn't done before.

She loved seeing all the big girls dancing and when her items for jazz and tap came on she said she wished she was still dancing in it. I told her that hopefully next year she will be well enough to be doing all of her normal things including dancing. For the finale one of the big girls, Jess, carried her on stage and sat Charlotte on her lap. Charlotte got her medal with all the other kids and also got a lovely surprise. Her friend, Georgia, gave her Bella Bear to take home for the holidays. Only Miss Tanya and Georgia knew this was happening, so Georgia did very well to keep the secret. Bella Bear is a special Teddy bear that is given to one of the girls at dancing each week to look after when they have done something well, like beautiful dancing or the best hair in a bun, etc. Bella bear has a photo album with her that the girls can add to when they have her for the week. We have already taken lots of photos. When I get back to my own house I will email through some photos of Charlotte in her tutu and with Bella Bear.

Next Friday is the last day of treatment and we are hoping that we can all go to our normal homes after that. It has been very tiring going between houses and driving back and forth, packing and unpacking, etc. We have started looking at holiday options and will hopefully go on a few short holidays with Charlotte, so we're not away for too long at a time each time.
