Possible party???

Kevin took Charlotte to her radiotherapy treatment and her PMH appointment today. We had noticed Charlotte was a lot less confident in walking and generally moving around lately and Kevin asked the doctor today about it. He checked her strength in her legs and found it was not very good. Normally she is a strong little girl, but she couldn't even do a squat position today. Apparently severe muscle weakness is another side effect of the steroids. We are slowly decreasing the steroid dose as of today. Hopefully this time it will work a lot better.

We have also noticed Charlotte has been losing a fair amount of hair over the last few days. You can't see it by looking, but clumps are falling out in patches where the treatment is aimed. Hopefully we can do a few combover styles! She is also very tired after her treatment each day, so hasn't been at school this week. On the positive side Charlotte is still talking about food at least every five minutes and asking what is for lunch or dinner.

Kevin also checked with the doctor today when most children are more like their normal selves after radiotherapy finishes. The average is about 3-4 weeks. We are thinking of having a big celebration for Charlotte when she is feeling a bit more up to it. So we are thinking that we might have a get-together with everyone that is able to, on Sunday 16 December. We realise this is the weekend before Christmas and isn't good timing, but if you are able to keep the date free for those Perth people and we will let you know a bit closer to the time if it will all go ahead on this day. Will probably go to a big park/playground area like Whiteman Park or Mawson Park, so all the kids can play and have fun. Everyone that is receiving these emails is of course invited and your families!
